Put them in a wire cage or erect some other temporary housing and\n place it in the sun, making sure they have access to water and shade if\n they need it. They&#8217;ll absolutely love digging around in the grass. But \ndon&#8217;t leave them unattended! At this age they&#8217;re very good flyers and \nsusceptible to predators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 6 weeks of age your chickens are ready to move outside. Trust me, you&#8217;ll be thrilled to get them out of your house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chick Heat Table<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table has-fixed-layout is-style-regular\"><tbody><tr><td>Chick Age<\/td><td>Temperature<\/td><td>Consideration<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>0-7 Days<\/td><td>95\u00b0F<\/td><td>Now is not the time to let babies stay outside the brooder more than a couple minutes.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>week 2<\/td><td>90\u00b0F<\/td><td>Babies start flying very early! Be sure the heat lamp is secure and can&#8217;t be reached.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>week 3<\/td><td>85\u00b0F<\/td><td>Chicks can make short trips outside, if the weather is nice and warm.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>week 4<\/td><td>80\u00b0F<\/td><td>Let chicks enjoy more time outside, but keep a close eye on them.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>week 5<\/td><td>75\u00b0F<\/td><td>Is your house 75\u00b0F? Turn off the heat lamp.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>week 6<\/td><td>70\u00b0F<\/td><td>Start acclimating the chickens, letting them spend all day outside unless the weather is cold and rainy.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>After 6 weeks<\/td><td>Ready for outside<\/td><td>Fully feathered chicks can endure 30\u00b0F and lower. Acclimate them \nbefore putting them outside for good.
