Sweet Chili Sauce

This is my Grandma's recipe, Rose Adams

Equipment

  • Preserving Kettle and Mason Jars

Ingredients
  

  • 15 Large Ripe Tomatoes
  • 4 Medium Cooking Onions
  • 1 Cup White Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Table Salt
  • 1 Cup Granulated White Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Tsp Ground Cloves

Instructions
 

  • Chop celery and onions VERY FINE and put in preserving kettle.
  • Put tomatoes in boiling water (just until skin breaks) to make peeling easier. Peel tomatoes. Chop tomatoes and put in preserving kettle.
  • Add rest of ingredients and boil 4 hours or until thickened. (A whole potato in the pot JUST until cooked helps to thicken. Remove and discard potato.)
    Volume reduces about 1/3.
  • Pour into HOT, STERILIZED mason jars and seal.
