This is my Grandma's recipe, Rose Adams

Sweet Chili Sauce

Prep Time 30 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 15 Large Ripe Tomatoes
  • 4 Medium Cooking Onions
  • 1 Cup White Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Table Salt
  • 1 Cup Granulated White Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Tsp Ground Cloves

Equipment

  • Preserving Kettle and Mason Jars

Method
 

  1. Chop celery and onions VERY FINE and put in preserving kettle.
  2. Put tomatoes in boiling water (just until skin breaks) to make peeling easier. Peel tomatoes. Chop tomatoes and put in preserving kettle.
  3. Add rest of ingredients and boil 4 hours or until thickened. (A whole potato in the pot JUST until cooked helps to thicken. Remove and discard potato.)
    Volume reduces about 1/3.
  4. Pour into HOT, STERILIZED mason jars and seal.
