This is a photo of our homegrown shiitake mushrooms. Freshly picked and ready to cook. Add them to a stir fry, omelette, homemade cream of mushroom soup or just sauteed in butter and served on toast.
Shiitake mushrooms are becoming increasingly popular, appearing more often in supermarkets and on restaurant menus. One reason for this is their amazing flavour, buttery, meaty, and nutty, and smokey and nutty when dried.
Shiitake mushrooms are low in calories but high in protein, B vitamins, vitamin D, minerals, and dietary fibre. Making them an ideal addition to any meal.
